Description

'Large-scale works provide an immersive experience. Your peripheral vision lessens when you come close to a large work, you lose a sense of where it ends. I like physically to draw a viewer in, and to move them back and forth, so they look and engage. '

Debra Dawes is a leading Australian artist with a career spanning four decades. In What's on your mind, Dawes presents a precisely calibrated arrangement of colour and pattern over an expansive large-scale canvas that saturates the eye with oscillating light a sustained gaze is rewarded with the sensation that we might be looking ever deeper into architectures of space and light that could be infinitesimally small, or endlessly expanding.
