Description

Elioth Gruner is one of Australia's most prominent landscape painters, best known for his ability to capture the ephemeral effects of light on the landscape.

This beautiful impressionist Australian landscape by Gruner holds a special place in the Wesfarmers Collection as the first work acquired by the company. It was purchased by Wesfarmers' General Manager, John Bennison in 1977.

Bennison would go on to acquire several more pieces of Australian art for Wesfarmers with the assistance of Melbourne art dealer Joseph Brown, setting in place the early evolution of the Wesfarmers Collection.
