Grace Cossington Smith

Grace Cossington Smith is one of Australia's most important women painters. Her radiant and light-filled modernist scenes of Sydney and domestic interiors, glow with colour - applied in a semi-pointillist style in short dabs and strokes of oil paint to record both the physical details of her subject as well as suggest a sense of mood and atmosphere.

Many of her paintings of domestic scenes, including Interior with portrait, were painted in her home and studio.
